CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is a first-aid emergency technique used when a person is no longer breathing or when the heart has stopped beating.
It mainly consists of:
performing chest compressions (cardiac massage) to keep blood circulating
and sometimes giving rescue breaths / mouth-to-mouth ventilation to provide oxygen.
The goal of CPR is to keep the brain and vital organs alive until emergency services arrive or until the heart starts beating again.
How to make a CPR?
1. Check security
Make sure there is no danger.
2. Check the victim
Talk to and pat the personif and she does not respond → call emergency services.
3. Check breathing
Open the airways and check if the person is breathing normally.
4. Begin chest compressions
Place your hands in the center of your chest, press hard and quickly and erform 30 compressions.
5. Perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation
Give 2 breaths.
6. Continue the cycle
Repeat : 30 compressions and then 2 insufflations.
7. Use a defibrillator (AED/DEA) if available.
Continue until: the arrival of the emergency services or the return of breathing.
